Rough Week

I have been has been a rough week in the Stinson household to say the least. It started with me not feeling too well last week, then an ER visit for Jules, then a momma taking such good care of her babe, that she forgot to take care of herself and ended up in Urgent Care last Sunday. The Dr. told me that it was an upper respiratory infection and I better take it easy for 3 days, or it may turn to pneumonia. Easier said than done....or so I thought.

I called into work on Monday because I could barely get out of bed. I told my boss what was going on, but that I would rest for the day and be back on Tuesday. She called me back 2 hours later and told me that they had found a sub for me and to stay home until Wednesday and then see how I felt! She wanted me to rest and feel better before coming back to work. Seriously, I have never had a boss that cared so much about my well-being. I am just so thankful for my current positive working environment! Thank goodness I stayed home. Tuesday was the worst day. I barely made it out of bed to take Jules to school. When I came home I just crashed for almost 8 hours. Thankfully Drew was so good about picking Julianna up from school each day and then making dinner for me and letting me rest at night. On Wednesday we had Julianna's follow-up appt. from her ER visit. I also made an appt. to be seen - thankfully it wasn't pneumonia, but I wasn't getting any better either. So she put me on an anti-biotic and I am hoping I will feel more like myself again by this weekend!!

Now about Jules - last Wednesday night she woke up saying that her heart was "beeping" I asked her if she meant "beating" and she said no it was beeping - she could hear it in her ears. Drew and I felt her chest and her heart was just racing. This was one of those parenting moments where we had to decide if we were over reacting, or not reacting enough. Do we go to the ER, or let her calm down and see if her heart rate slows down. She ended up falling back asleep and seemed to be o.k. The next morning she was better, but we were still concerned. She wanted to go to school, so we sent her, but Drew called around 1:30 and her teacher said she had just woken up from a nap, but seemed really tired and lethargic throughout the day. I called the Dr. and she said to just take her right to the ER. Are we ever glad we did.

The ER was short-staffed that day and filling in for 2 hours (the 2 hours we were there) was a Pediatric Pulmonologist. He said he felt like he was put there to see Julianna that day! His exact words were - "I don't know if you believe in God, but this is a God thing!" He was really thorough and looked over Julianna and then just sat there and talked to Drew and I. Wanted to know her history and what she has been through during her 3 years of life! We started from the beginning with all of her breathing issues. He then told us that her being on steroids for as many times as she has been on them over the past year was too much and that the rapid heart rate the night before was from her nebulizer (albuterol) treatments. She is taking them too frequently (we were told by our Family Dr. that every 3-4 hours was fine - it is not). He wanted us to meet with our Family Dr. and then get a referral to see him. He would like to go over everything in more detail when we meet with him and look into starting Julianna on a daily treatment (non-albuterol) through her nebulizer that will keep her breathing more evened out. We won't be so up and down with her episodes. It seems like every 5 weeks she gets really sick and weak. We are hoping after meeting with him we can get on a treatment plan that will just make life better for her!

So I am am SO thankful we took her in. Plus she had an ear infection, so she was able to get on meds for that. She has had a great week and has been feeling so much better since we took her in. At the Dr. appt on Wednesday our family Dr. said she looks good and her lungs sound better, and she gave us the referral to the Pulmonologist. Hopefully we will have our appt. with him soon and will be on the road to a better and healthier Julianna!

Our plan this weekend is to lie low and get lots of rest. I need to be better and at 100% again because two weeks from today my Mom and Step-Dad will be here!! Last weeks health scare with Jules made them realize how much they miss the babe and how they couldn't wait a moment longer to see her. So my Mom called me that night to say that they bought tickets and will be here the week of Spring Break! It will be so great to see them and to spend all of that time with them. We can't wait!!!

Stinson Family Valentine's Day!

Sunday morning we all woke up to little gifts and treats waiting for us in the dining room. The girls each got some new books, trinkets and candy. Drew got an gift card and candy and I received a beautiful orchid plant and of course TO DIE FOR chocolate covered strawberries that he whipped up at home that morning. They were unbelievable and amazing!

My beautiful orchid and the card that made me cry. Drew is the sweetest man I have ever known and I am just so blessed to be his wife!
Mmm Hmm...they were as good as they looked and I ate about 5 of them. I know shameful, but SO worth it!

That afternoon we took the girls to Incredible Pizza. We had a great time playing the games and taking in a game on mini golf, where I am pretty sure Jules beat us all!!

Mary used some of her Valentime $$ from Grandma and Grandpa Howard to create this video with Jules. Not a fan of the outfits that were chosen with the song "What I Like About You", but the video sure is cute. :)

Lots of fun on the mini-golf course!

It was a great Valentine's Day and I am so glad I got to spend it with the 3 cutest Valentine's a girl could ask for!!

First Haircut!

Jules got her first haircut on Saturday. Yes, I realize she is 3 and a half, but what can I say. The girl's hair just started growing in the past year and was time for a cut.

Jules is so shy sometimes and doesn't care for attention. (I know and she calls herself a girl) She really struggled with all of the attention she got from us and the barber.

Here is where the tears started.

In the end though, she LOVED it!!! Look how adorable she looks!
(She is holding her official first haircut certificate that included a family pic and a lock of hair!)

Wall of Love!

Here is yet another reason why I LOVE my job!!!! I have been so blessed today by the kids here at Stowe. Here is what the wall above my desk looks like right now. Besides all of the cards, i have been blessed with Chocolate chip cookies, candy bars, ring pops, a box of chocolate, pencils, crackers, coffee, a doughnut, crackers, taffy and other goodies. These gifts are so dear to my heart because I know that a lot of these families can't afford a lot and that they took the time and effort to think of me makes me feel so blessed!
Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!!

Answer to Prayer!

If you have been a follower of my blog for the past few years, you may remember that 3 years ago when Drew worked at The Market, he injured his foot really bad. We went to multiple Dr. Appts. and specialists and no one could figure out what was going on. We have spent hundreds of dollars on special things for his shoes, medicine etc.

Well, yesterday we may have received some real answers! Drew met with the best Sports Medicine Doctor in Iowa. Seriously, this guy was amazing. He told Drew that he probably sprained his foot back then and it just never healed properly. He was the only one out of everyone that we have seen, who was able to make Drew's foot hurt in the right spot when he felt around it and could diagnose the problem area.

Turns out the problem is with one of the tendons in Drew's foot. He put Drew in a brace, gave him a referral to a Physical Therapist, made an appt for 6 weeks from now and said that after the brace and the physical therapy, he should be good as new!

What an answer to prayer. It has been hard on Drew (and me - deep tissue massages just about every night) and we are so thankful to finally have some answers!!!

I will keep you all updated on his progress and how things turn out after 6 weeks of therapy!

Play Date

Last night Jules and I each had "play dates". She had one with Reagan and I had one with Rochelle! Jules got some much needed snuggle time in Regan and I got in some much needed girl talk and time with my bestie!

I stole this pic from Rochelle's Blog. It was too cute not to post again! (please ignore Julianna's hair - she will be getting her first haircut this weekend!)

Do you think she is ready to be a big sis or what? Hopefully soon!

Dear Aunt La La,

I talked to mommy last night and here are the pictures you requested....

Here I am bowling. Mommy, Daddy and Aunt Co Co took me bowling a couple of weeks ago. It was fun and I rocked at it!
Here I am at the Dr. Office a couple of weeks ago. I am feeling much better now though because I did my treatments like I was suppose to!
Here I am at Grandpa Bob's Retirement Party from the Fire Station. Don't you love my dress? Aunt Barb got it for me for Christmas!

Me and Mommy. Your favorite sis! :)
I was a little scared of the big fire trucks!

But they are pretty cool!
Here we are at the Iowa Energy Game. I was so lucky and got to have my picture taken with the talented and beautiful lady who sang the National Anthem....she looks a lot like Aunt Co!

And last but not least, here I am in my new outfit Grandma Lili and Grandpa Tom bought for me. I called them from Target on Saturday and they told me to pick out whatever I wanted and they would pay for it. I picked the whole thing out myself. Don't you just love it!?!?

I love you Aunt La La and I miss SOOOOOOOO much! I hope these pics will tide you over for now. Mom will have more just as soon as she gets a new memory card for her camera. Have a great week!!!

10 Things that make me smile today

1 - Let's start with the obvious - IT'S FRIDAY!!

2 - It's FAMILY GAME NIGHT!! Tonight we have about 25 people coming to our house for this month's family game night. Drew is making his usual amazing chili and trying a new recipe for Pork Verde Chili. I am trying my hand at some gourmet popcorn. It will be another great night filled with lots and laughter and fun!

3 - Tomorrow we are relaxing during the day (because the house is already clean, thanks to Drew - see below) and watching movies with Jules.

4 - Tomorrow night my beautiful sister Courtney will be singing the National Anthem at the Iowa Energy Game. I am so excited to see her sing since I wasn't able to see her when she sang for the Iowa Cubs. :)

5 - Tomorrow is my bestie's birthday! After I see Courtney sing, I will head over to Centro for dinner with Rochelle and some other lovely ladies. Mama is excited for a night out!

6 - Yesterday morning my gorgeous husband said this to me "Babe why don't I bring home dinner from Johnny's tonight and when we are done eating you can lie down for the rest of the night and I will take care of cleaning the house for family game night tomorrow". And he did. The house looks great and I got some much needed rest last night. I have been having diificulty sleeping and it all caught up with me. I love that I have a husband who sees my needs and takes care of them! This makes me smile, because the ladies I work with are jealous of me today. What can I say I take care of my man and he takes care of me. Love it!

7 - I have lost 6 pounds. :) Limiting my pop intake and watching my calories has really started to pay off. Who knew :)

8 - 7 years ago this weekend Drew told me he loved me for the first time...and he has been telling me everyday since. I am such a blessed woman.

9 - Sunday we are trying a new church. I am excited.

10 - Julianna had herself dressed and ready to go this morning by the time I was done drying my hair. I love that kid. She makes me smile every minute of everyday!

Happy weekend folks! Stay warm and out of the ditches! :)

Not a lot going on....

...I have been asked by a few people to post a new blog message. We haven't really been up to much lately. Just spending time together and taking advantage of our family time.

This Friday is our second Family Game Night. I can't wait. I think it will be a lot of fun! Drew is making chili and I am going to try my hand at some gourmet popcorn. Don't get too excited. It is VERY easy to do, but I thought I would 'spice' things up a bit for this game night. :)

Julianna is doing so great in pre-school this year. Her vocabulary and intelligence amaze me on a daily basis. Sometimes is breaks my heart too. She is just growing up so fast. My little baby is gone and has grown into quite a little girl. I just adore her and find my self at some point each day staring at her and then back at Drew - We made her and she is so amazing!!! My favorite thing in the whole world is when she wraps her arms around my neck and says "ohhh mom, I just love you!" Melts my heart.

We are hoping to enroll Julianna in Grandview Park Baptist in the fall. They have a registration on the 16th and we will get more information at that time. I am kind of excited that Julianna might be going to the same school I went to!

Mary is growing into quite the young lady. She is so beautiful, it makes me not see straight some days. The boys are coming out of the woodwork for her. She was just asked out again yesterday. Of course she is not allowed to date or have a boyfriend for many more years, but that is hard for a 12 year old to understand when most of her friends have a boyfriend. I don't know what their parents are thinking. But honey, your parents are thinking you have PLENTY of time for that, and there is no way a 12 year old should be in any kind of relationship unless it is with God and your parents!! In a world of cell phones and text messages it is hard to keep tabs on boys contacting her, but we are not above checking her text messages and keeping her on the straight and narrow when it comes to boys. Especially Drew. :)

Mary was elected to Student Council this year - did I already post that? I can't remember, but anyway - we are SO proud of her! She is her class treasurer and is doing a great job. She is a little nervous and anxious for junior high next year, but I think she will do just fine...if she can focus on being an individual and not following the crowd. :)

Other than that, not much else to report. I am still having a great time at my job and loving it. My boss is so wonderful and I have made some really great new friends. Two of whom are also fellow bloggers. Check out their links on the side of my blog - Lynam Land and Maggie McBlogger. I am sure you will enjoy them as much as I do!

Well that is about it. Life is good, love is good and family is good. What more could I ask for?!
