Julsieism #1

....So Drew just asked Julianna if she wanted to take her bath tonight or in the morning. Her response?

"Not tonight, this weekend...on Saturday"

Sometimes she amazes us with how smart she is. How does she know that Saturday is part of the weekend? I love it!

Our precious baby girl was in the hospital this past weekend. It started last week with her getting sick and throwing up. She was sick Wednesday and Thursday and by Friday we decided to get her into her Dr. because her cough was getting worse and she had a fever. Well it is a good thing that we took her in. The Dr. told us to get her to Blank as soon as they could get her a room. She had RSV, pneumonia, an ear infection and by the time we got to the hospital a temp of over 103 degrees. It was a little scary, but the staff at Blank were AMAZING and took such good care of our little girl. The worst part for me was watching her get her IV. She did really well and at first just wanted to have it covered up, so she wouldn't look have to look at it, but by Saturday she was fine with looking at it and having the nurses put her medicine in it and flush it with saline.

She was such a trooper during her 2 days there. When we got there and they started looking her over, they told us that all children under 3 have to stay in a crib. Now I don't know if you have ever seen these things, but they look like a small prison cell. I was at first fine with it because it was the rule....however Jules was not. She looked at that bed and said (I kid you not) "I am a big girl, and I want a big girl bed. I don't want that baby bed, I want my big girl!" So we signed a waiver saying we wouldn't sue the hospital if she fell out of a "big girl bed" and she got her wish. Good thing too, because once we knew for sure she had RSV, she would have to sleep propped up anyway. Like I said, she did so well. We just rested and relaxed with her and watched movies, movies, movies! I think we watched "The Bee Movie" and BOTH "Madagascar" movies at least 4 times each. We were all relieved when she was able to go home, so we could rest together all day Sunday.

Thank you everyone who stopped by to see her, or prayed for her, or took care of me and Drew while we were there.

A big thanks to my little sis Courtney. She stayed with me the ENTIRE time (other than a few hours to go home and sleep Friday night) so I would have constant help. She painted Julianna's toes and did her hair, she ran to the Cafeteria for me whenever I needed her to, even went out and got dinner for Drew and I on Friday night and stayed with me while Drew had to work for a few hours on Saturday. I definitely couldn't have done it without her and it was just plain nice to have spent some time with her and I know Jules loved it!

Hopefully Jules is on the mend, which is more than I can say for her daddy. I left him this morning sick in bed with the flu. Just hope it will by-pass me!!

A Great Day!

Drew had the day off yesterday and let me tell you it was wonderful to have him home!! Drew and I only have 2 days off a month together and we take full advantage of them. We opened all of the blinds and lazed around in the morning watching movies with the girls and reading the paper. Then we set the timer for an hour and cleaned as much as we could. We love to turn up the music loud and set the timer to clean. We make a game out of it and get excited about cleaning with the girls. It kind of gets them in the mood to help out!

Mary asked later in the afternoon if she could dress-up Jules and put some make-up on her. Drew wasn't too thrilled about it, but I thought it would be o.k. as long as we weren't going anywhere and they took a bath as soon as they were done. Mary made herself and Jules look pretty cute, so I of course had to take some pics! Can you even believe how grown-up Mary looks. She is gorgeous and is becoming quite the young lady!

To surprise me, Drew called my sister Courtney to see if she could watch the girls last night so we could go to a movie. We ended up seeing Paul Blart: Mall Cop because it was the only funny thing out right now. Then we headed to Wal-Mart for our weekly grocery run. You don't know how nice it was going to the store with just Drew and not chasing Jules through the aisles. It was just a nice relaxing day with my family. These are my favorite days. I love being with Drew and I am so thankful for whatever time we have together and take full advantage of every second of it!!

Happy Delicious Valentine's Day To Me!

I believe I don't even need to explain what Drew's homemade gifts were...the pictures below can describe them better than I can.

Let me just say they were DELICIOUS and AMAZING!!! I am one spoiled girl....and who cares if I gained 5 pounds this weekend - right?

To Die For Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Made From Scratch (yeah that's right) Coconut Lime Cake. It was the special at the restaurant Valentines night inspired by yours truly...two of my favorite ingredients in the world are coconut and lime. Combined with my favorite food group - can you go wrong? It was pure heaven on earth!!!

Valentine's Day 2009!

On Saturday Drew and the girls woke up to a table full of gifts that I had either made for them, won, or received for free!

I made Drew 3 CD's of a couple different artists that he likes, then I made him a coupon book of different lovey dovey things I can do for him. I also made his card this year. I love the way it turned out. Last week I won a $50.00 gift card to Biaggi's, so that was a nice surprise for him as well. Last year I had given him some novelty "love" lottery tickets that he never opened, so I re-gifted those and gave them to him again this year. :o) He opened them yesterday and his "lottery" ticket says that I need to be a maid for the day in the month of May. I am sure that will entail helping him clean the garage or something!!

For the girls - I made them each bookmarks and coupon books for things like a salon night, movie night of their choice, and a birthday party when it's not their birthday (cake and gifts included), then I got them some cool shirts from different events we have had here at work and then my mom graciously donated the rest of the items - Madagascar II, chocolates, necklaces and some snowglobes.

It was a great morning and we had fun spending some time together before Drew had to leave for work.....where we surprised him with more goodies!

For lunch the girls and I headed to Johnny's where we gave Drew more homemade cards and brownies that the girls had made and decorated for their dad. They were so excited to give them to him and I know he loved that they had made them! We had a delicious lunch and then went home for naps and to hang out the rest of the day.

Sue and Dad watched the girls that night so I could go to a play at Grand View. That in itself was a gift to me...just a few hours to myself enjoying a play! I also won the raffle at the play, so one more free gift for Drew! A cute teddy bear - the first stuffed animal I have ever given him. It was cute and he plans to put it in his box of treasures I have given him over the years. :o)

Then Drew came home around 11 and suprised me his gifts!

This year since Drew and I decided to save money, we thought we would do a "free" Valentine's Day. Everything that we give each other has to either be free, or homemade.

I am working on some fun things for him. Stay tuned to see pics of what the girls and I do! It has been a lot of fun finding things to give him that are "free!" :o)

Speaking of Dress Up....

....I came across these pics on my camera today. I am assuming Mary took them while her and Jules were playing dress up one weekend. Jules LOVES anything mermaid, so I thought these were too cute and had to share them!!

Girls Night Out!

Saturday Night our whole crew celebrated Rochelle's (ahem) "29th" birthday!! We met for dinner at Wig and Pen in Ankeny and then headed over to the theatre to see "He's Just Not That Into You". The food at Wig and Pen is amazing - highly recommended. Then, Annette brought our favorite little cakes from "Let Them Eat Cake" in Valley Junction. Mmm Mmm Mmm. Delish!

It was a lot of fun and nice to have a break from the routine.

When I got home, my little princess had been playing dress-up all night for her Aunt Co Co and Uncle Jeremy. She looked too cute, that I couldn't resist snapping a couple of pics. She wanted to make sure I put them on our blog. Is it bad that my two-year-old knows what a blog is and wants it to be centered around her??!!?? :o)

Health Update...

....whew, has it even been a crazy couple of weeks. Last week I was admitted to the hospital for what they thought might have been a small stroke or mild heart attack. It was crazy. I was sitting at home and then had this rush to my heart and the back of my head. I tried to stand up and got dizzy. I called my mom to just talk to her and I was slurring my words and not sounding right, so she told me to call 911. I called 911 and while I was talking to them I reached for my bottle of water and I lost all feeling and control of my right hand.

The EMT's came and took me to Lutheran where I was admitted the for the night. They did tests throughout the night and took my blood and did Stroke tests every 2 hours. It was scary and exhausting. Wed. morning I had the CT scan of my leg and and MRI of my brain. They also did an echocardiogram and corroted artery test (I don't know if I spelled any of those right) The next day I met with a neurologist who did more tests and ordered 2 more MRI's.

Yesterday I met with my Dr. and she wants to test me for Lyme Disease and look into Fibromyalgia. I have been doing some reasearch on both and of course my symptoms relate to both. I am kind of at my wits end right now. My Dr. doesn't have any answers. Apparently I am not a "text book" case and so it has been hard to diagnose me.

For right now I am severely altering my diet and exercising in the warm water pool at Mercy 4 days a week and I will see how that will help me.

Please keep the prayers coming. They are really helping. For instance....the tumor is no where near as bad as they thought. I won't need surgery. They are going to try and shrink it through body wraps, so I will be starting those soon too.

Thanks everyone for your calls, emails and concerns over the past few weeks. You don't know how much they have helped me!

Go Steelers!

I know this is a few days late, but it has been a crazy week filled with more Dr. appts and tests.

Sunday, Drew's Pittsburgh manage to come through at the end and WIN THE SUPER BOWL!!! It was a great game and i was glad that we were just able to stay home and enjoy it.

The girls made cupcakes for the game and I think they turned out so cute!!
