"I'm Aryul Mommy!"

Jules is fascinated with anything "Little Mermaid" right now. How this happened is beyond me as I vowed to be the parent that never exposed her kids to the Disney craze and heaven forbid my child wear or touch anything that had some sort of cartoon character on it! I even gave specific instructions at my baby showers, Christmas and birthdays, that my child would not own anything with commercial characters on them!

Well....Jules somehow LOVES everything Ariel. Mary loves her too, so I am sure this is how the craze started. I don't think she has seen the movie, but she knows that she is a mermaid and has fins instead of legs. She thinks this is the greatest thing there ever was and is always trying to be a mermaid, or as she puts it "I'm Aryul Mommy"! I have to say it is the cutest thing and I am finding myself drawn to the Disney aisle at Target and may have purchased her an Ariel play phone and books, not to mention and Elmo Dr. Kit and Purse for her birthday and then there was that pair of sunglasses that had the tiniest Tinkerbell decal...oh no, I think I have become that mom. I am seeing light up Disney shoes in the near future......o.k. someone please stop me, so I don't go that far!! :o)

Anyway, here are some pics of Jules being Ariel or "Aryul" after her bath the other night. She was pretty proud to be her own mermaid. Man, I love this kid!!

Still Lovin' Huckabee!

On Friday, Drew prepared all of the food for an event that Mike Huckabee spoke at. He had the opportunity to meet him and talk with him. What a down to earth and wonderful guy.
Of course we are still wishing we could vote for him in November, but we know that he is still working towards good things for our Country!

First Slush of the summer...

Drew had the day off on Saturday, so we were able to spend the day with Jules. We had a great time. We took her to the park and to our favorite pizza place in Ankeny. Then we got the craving for a slush from Tropical Sno. Jules had never had one, so we thought she could just share with me. Well....needless to say I shared with Drew. She loved it and has asked more than once for another one!!

Hmmm, looks good.....
Brain Freeze!She LOVES it!!!
Thanks dad!!!

Happy 4th of July!

We had a fun fourth of July this year! The day started off at my sister Lauren's garage sale (at my dad and step-mom's house). My step-mom picked up a small pool for Jules, so we filled it and let her run wild with it all day. She had a blast! After a day in the sun, we headed to Drew's mom and step-dad's house for a bbq and fireworks! Drew's mom lives right across the street from the Wakonda Golf and Country Club, so we always have primo seats for the fireworks every year!! Drew's step-brother Jeff and his family joined us, it was a great night and lots of fun!

She loves everything about having a pool!!!

Our "lil sparkler"!
So cheeeesy!!!

Playing with Dad. It couldn't have been any cuter!

Playing with paper "fireworks" in the yard at Drew's mom's house.

Jules thought she would try to play with the big kids.

Kyle and Bailey running around with their sparklers. They had so much fun!

Jules was not too fond of the fireworks at first.........

.......but ended up loving them and is STILL talking about them today!

Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July!!

So much fun!

Last night Drew had to work late, so I decided to take the girls on a picnic at a park near our house. When I went to pick them up at my grandparents (who were also watching some kids from church)....and this is what I saw!!! Mary was in her element! She is so wishing she could drive right now, but this will have to be as good as it gets for right now.....

After I picked them up, we ran home where Mary made us some delicious PB&J sandwiches and packed some other goodies and then we headed to the park. The girls had so much fun running around and playing on everything and mom had fun watching them use all of their energy, so they could crash when we got home!!!

Mary loved this umbrella looking thing that she could spin on and Jules just loved running around and how cute that she kept her sunglasses on the entire time we were there!
