Quick Update!

I can't believe it has been 2 weeks since I posted. It has been crazy busy here at work. Students moved in last week and therer were lots of festivities to plan for. CRAZY!!

Drew and I took a mini-vacation to Minneapolis this past weekend to watch our Pittbsburgh Steelers play the Minnesota Vikings. IT WAS AMAZING!! I will post pics and info about the trip as soon as I can.

I started class again on Monday. I am taking Human Development this semester. So far it is pretty interesting. I am coming home and telling Drew what we have talked about, so it is helping me remember what I learned, and will hopefully help me when I am stydying.

Mary started school last week. She is back in public school and seems to be liking it.

Jules - I only have one word for her right now - A.T.T.I.T.U.D.E! She has one and isn't afraid to use it. She loves you one minute and can't stand you the next. That girl tries my patience and melts my heart all in the same breath. Oh well, as I am learning in my class, this is all completely normal.

We are all getting ready for this weekend. Grand View's first football game ever is this weekend. We have so many fun events planned. I can't wait to go! After that we are hoping to load the car and head to Omaha for a quick get-away. We are going to spend the night and head to the zoo on Sunday with Jules. I think it will be great fun. Though I kind of forgot that it was Labor Day weekend and there will probably be lots of crowds, but it will still be a great time with Julianna. She loves animals right now, so I think she will have a blast!

That's all for now. I will post pics from the game when I can and of my new crush - Hines Ward. #86 for the Steelers. :o)

In Loving Memory....

My wonderful, beautiful and loving Grandma Labieniec passed away yesterday morning. She was my step-dad Tom's mom and you had never met a woman with more spunk and wit. She was always so thoughtful and loving towards Lauren and I, and treated and accepted us as her own grandchildren.

We love you Grandma, and you will forever hold a special place in our hearts!

Her funeral will be tomorrow in Connecticut. I am so thankful that my mom and Tom are able to go, but very sad that Lauren and I are not. We will be there in spirit and will be sending our thoughts and love.

They're Here!

It has been over 4 years since Drew and I have seen his brother Jeff. He was our best man in our wedding and we haven't been able to see him since then....until last night!

Jeff lives in Wyoming, and is in town for a few days with his son Carson - my only nephew and who I had the pleasure to meet last night! Carson was suppose to be our adorable ring bearer in our wedding, but got sick at the last minute and wasn't able to make the trip.

Drew had to work a little late last night, but called to say that Jeff and Carson were in town and after a long day of driving stopped at Chuckie Cheese to have dinner and play some games and wanted to know if I could meet them there with the girls! So we headed down the street and had a nice reunion! Drew met us there later. It was so great to see them and hopefully we will have some more fun times during the next few days!

It's the little things in life....

I have been a pouty wife. When I met Drew, I was living in a one bedroom apt. by myself and it was F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S. By fabulous, I mean it was decorated how I wanted and there weren't toys and tea parties taking up my living room. Did I mention that it was also the 12th place I had lived in 7 years. I was used to new places and new things!

So....living in our house for almost 3 years puts me in a mood sometimes. We still have the same decor we did when we moved in. Nothing has been changed or spruced up since 2005 and it puts me in a funk somedays.

On Saturday I was at Target perusing the usual clearance items and I found the coolest shower curtain that I thought would look good in our upstairs bath. We just had a boring white one before that. Boring because I now live with a man and I have to be mindful of not making things too girly. So...could I justify getting a PINK shower curtain. When I flipped it over to look at the price, I knew it didn't matter the color I HAD to get it! $3.74!!!!

We put it up last night and let me tell you, I had a little skip in my walk this morning, it just brightens up the room and makes me feel all happy just looking at it.

When I asked Drew if he liked it, he said he did and then said if it made me happy, then he liked it even more. :o)

Sometimes it's just the little things....

Iowa State Fair Parade

Last night I took the girls to the State Fair Parade. We went to see Grand View's cheerleaders and dance team as well as my little brother march in the East High band.

We found a spot right at the start of the parade and thought we had the best seats. Well it turned out that all of the bands started one street west of us, so we completely missed my brother and East's band. I was pretty upset - mainly because we didn't get to see him march in his final State Fair parade (he is going to be a senior), but also because we sat there until 8:15 waiting for him to go by and the girls and myself were exhausted and starving.

Oh well, we happened to park in the East High School parking lot and walk downtown, so Morgan met us after he was done with the parade, so the girls were still able to see him.

All in all it was a fun night and I got some great pics! (I found my camera in a purse I had used last week!)

Update of Sorts

It has been another couple of busy weeks in the Stinson household. Jules was sick most of last week and we had to take her to the ER for some breathing problems. Bless her little heart, looks like she may have asthma like her mama and grandma. She is a trooper though and doesn't mind using her nebulizer. I think she thinks it makes her more of a big girl. :o) Speaking of our big girl, she is doing so well with her potty training and has only had one accident in the past couple of weeks. She just took to it really well. We have found that if we tell her that doing something makes her a "big girl" she is all about it.

Mary is heading back to public school this year, so we are getting her ready for that. Last week she went to a jump start program for school all week and it helped her get back in the groove of things, so she is ready academically and mentally for school in two weeks. Drew and I are planning a day at the Fair with her next Monday, so it will be nice to have a day with just her and spoil her with fair goodies.

Drew is working hard, hard, hard, and still manages to have time with his family and make me feel like a queen. How I landed this man is beyond me some days. He has been truly in love with his wife the past few weeks and doesn't miss an opportunity to show me or tell me. What a lucky girl I am. We have experienced a miracle of sorts with his family and all of them coming together over his grandmothers health problems. It was an emotional weekend filled with laughter, tears and joy as we were at the hospital with his grandma. Hopefully she will be out soon and the whole family can get together and let bygones be bygones.

As for me, things are crazy busy here at work. We have all fall athletes moving in today and their orientation is tomorrow. We have about 120 new football players coming to campus, so it has been pure craziness trying to get everyone placed and moved in. Classes start for me again on the 25th. I am excited for this class as I know some of the students in it and it is all about Human Development - fascinating stuff! Other than that, nothing new, just plugging away at housework, laundry, keeping our new pool clean and keeping up with a curious 2 year old.

I do have some cute pics of Jules and Mary, but I have somehow lost my camera, so pray that I find it tomorrow before we head to the State Fair parade to see Grand View's cheerleaders and Dance Team and my little bro in the East High Marching Band!
