Fall Update...

On Monday morning as I was coming back to my office after class, my ankle gave out and I fell again. Ugh! It was brutal this time. I banged up my knee again and scraped up my other leg and hands. I decided to head to the Dr. to see if something was wrong.

The tendons and ligaments in my left ankle are soft and have been causing my ankle to give out. The Dr. put me in an air cast for 3 days, so I can keep my ankle straight and hopefully it won't keep causing problems!!

1st Embarrassing Moment of 2008....

So....just got back from Hy-vee where the heel to my new boots slipped and sent me stumbling, then falling right in front of customer service! I picked myself up, a little shaky, turn around to see who saw - thankfully just one lonely customer service associate who just looked at me like I had lost my mind - and headed to produce where I PROCEEDED TO DO THE SAME THING! Yep, fell again right on my knee and palms. I was totally mortified. Totally. This poor customer asked me if I was o.k. I didn't know what to say. "Oh yeah, couldn't be better. Just fell on my @SS twice in 30 seconds and I think my knee is bleeding through my new jeans. Couldn't be better!"

So, I proceeded right to the brownies and ice cream and then headed for the check-0ut. Everything else on my list could wait until tomorrow. I got to the car and just started bawling to Drew and told him what happened. Bless his heart he felt so bad and is taking care of me as we speak. I better go, he has my brownies, ice cream and diet coke ready for me, along with some Tylenol and a heating pad. I am sore and ready for a rest after this embarassing moment. Sheesh!

In Daddy's Shoes...

Last night Jules cracked us up by standing in Drew's shoes and trying to walk. It was too cute, so I of course grabbed the camera!

2-Week Catch Up!

I took a break from blogging for a couple of weeks because I have just been SO busy.

I started classes 2 weeks ago. So far I am really loving it. I have decided to become a Psychologist. Even hoping to go for my Masters Degree in a few years. So I am on the track with my classes to pursue that degree. I am really excited about it and so far, class is great fun - even if I am the oldest one in there. You know you are old when your teacher makes a comment about a comic from the 80's and I was THE ONLY ONE in class to laugh about it!!

Jules is talkin' up a storm. She says new words everyday, so we really have to watch what we say around her. Her new favorite word is "breast". Um, yeah. It means exactly what you think it means.

In other news, Drew got a job yesterday!!!! Woo hoo! We are so thrilled. It has been a LONG couple of months for us as we have waited for an offer.

Starting on Thursday he will be a Chef for Johnny's Italian Steakhouse. They are building a new one on with the Holiday Inn by Jordan Creek. It is owned by the same company that owns the Machine Shed where Drew used to work. It is a GREAT company with even better benefits and perks. It is just such a blessing that he will be working for them again and they are thrilled to have him back! Here is their website. http://www.johnnysitaliansteakhouse.com/des_moines_jordan_creek.aspx

It is such a great restaurant - in fact I had one of my bridal showers at the Johnny's by the airport. I just LOVE their food!

So, that about sums up the past 2 weeks. Even though we are beside ourselves with excitement about Drew's new job, it will be hard to see him go back to work. It has been great having him home every night and on the weekends and the fact that I haven't had to do very much house work has been great too!!!

A Stinson Getaway!

For Christmas Drew and I decided to forget about gifts for each other and take a trip - just the two of us - instead. On Friday morning we left for 3 fun filled child-free days. We had such a great time. We had originally planned to go to Chicago, but after deciding that we DIDN'T want to use most of our money for parking in downtown, we decided to head to our hotel just north of Chi-town and explore Wisconsin.

On Saturday morning we ate breakfast at Frank's Diner in Kenosha, Wisconsin. We had seen this diner on one of our favorite shows on The Food Network - "Diner's, Drive-In's and Dives". The place was awesome! It is the oldest Diner in the country. Super small, but lots of fun. We got to sit next to some locals at the bar seating area and we had a front-row seat to the grill and the 2 owners rockin and rollin through breakfast. The food was amazing, but the atmosphere was fantastic! We will definately be back. They even made Drew's day when they said that he was by far the tallest guy that had ever sat at the bar, or had even come into the place. He feels he has a part of their history now! http://www.franksdinerkenosha.com/

Then we headed up to Milwaukee to tour the Miller Brewery. And while I am not a beer drinker, it was pretty neat to see the area and to see the brewery. The entire brewery is a site in itself. The buildings are almost a hundred years old and it was neat to watch the process. I really enjoyed the historic caves and Drew really enjoyed the free samples at the end. :o) http://www.millerbrewing.com/

After the brewery we headed back to our hotel - I mean the best part of a trip away from home sometimes is the hotel - and ours was pretty sweet! But first, we stopped off at Whole Foods for dinner. Their salad bar was wonderful and I have found a new addiction. This place is amazing. I think it is everything that The Market was trying to be. Drew and I have decided that we like it so much that we are driving to Omaha once a month to stock up on goodies from there. My goal is to now try and get one in Des Moines!! http://www.wholefoods.com/

Right next to Whole Foods is the new Elizabeth Arden Salon. My mom works for Elizabeth Arden Spas in Phoenix and she wanted me to find the new salon. It was beautiful. Really stylish and contemporary.

Sunday we took our time coming home and went to another place we had seen on The Food Network - Superdawg - A hotdog stand that has been around since 1948. It was really retro and cool and the food was delish! This place is a local favorite and I think it is one of ours now too! http://www.superdawg.com/

After that we headed home. We were missing the little babe something fierce. When we walked in the door and she came running saying "Mama" "Dada" and gave us hugs, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect ending to our trip!

All in all it was a great time and it was nice to have some alone time with Drew. We laughed, cried, reminisced and SLEPT! It was the perfect weekend!

A few of my favorite things.....

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from our Christmas. We had a great time with all of our family and we really enjoyed Julianna's excitement and joy. This was also the first Christmas morning we have had with Mary since Drew and I were married. It was such a special and wonderful day!

We gave each girl an ornament on Christmas Eve to hang on the tree. The ornament represented something that was special to them in 2007. Mary got an angel with her birthstone on it, since she turned 10 this year. Jules really thought the idea of Santa was something else, so she got an ornament with Santa on it. Of course we taught her the true meaning of Christmas, but she had a blast looking at all of the santas this year!

Jules LOVED her trike from "Santa"!~

Mary LOVED her new karaoke machine!!

Jules had a blast with "bampa" and got plenty of hugs and kisses all day!

Ain't it the truth!!

This is my favorite gift of the day. My dad handmade this booster chair for Julianna. It is incredibly beautiful and brings a tear to my eye when I think about the time he took to make it and how it will be in our family for years!

We Like Mike!

This is our guy!

Drew and I are cutting our trip to Chicago short one-day, so we can caucus for our guy!! We are really looking forward to seeing how Mike does. We are hoping to be voting for him in November!!!
