Daddy - hard at work.....

So Jules (and my friend Annette) and I went to The Market the other day. Jules was still not feeling the best and was missing her daddy, so we stopped in to say hi. The store is amazing and has so many little things that make it unique. It has been a long week for him, but the store and his chef's case are doing great!!! He is selling out of his chicken salad before he can even get more made. Those of you that have had it, know why!
I am so thankful for what a hard worker, my husband is. He is so amazing in so many ways, but one thing that stands out to me is his work ethic. Of course his God and his family come first, but he is really dedicated to his job and his profession and I admire him so much for that.
Thank you babe for being such a great husband and role model for our girls! I love you!

Sick Baby.....

It was a somewhat rough weekend for us. Jules was running a fever at Vanessa's on Friday, so she called and asked me to come get her. By the time we got home her fever was at 103.2. She just wanted to sleep and snuggle in with mama. Sat. she wasn't much better and spent some of the day with Grandma so I could go to work and catch up on the stuff I couldn't get done Friday and so I could clean our house!!! She was better for Rochelle's shower yesterday, but still a little tired and out of it. She is snuggled safe in the arms of her great grandma and grandpa today, who I know will give her al lthe TLC she needs! She has her 9 month check-up tomorrow, so hopefully they will say that all is well and it is from her cutting her new front teeth!

The Market is open!!!

The Market officially opens for business today. Drew has been having kind of a crazy week trying to get everything ready. Yesterday he worked over 16 hours, just trying to get things ready for last night (soft opening) and getting things ready for the media. He is loving it though and is so glad that it is open!

I am so proud of him and proud to be his wife! He works so hard for us and is again loving what he does. Makes for a very happy Stinson household right now!!!!

Hope you all will be able to check it out soon!

We had a great time!

Mary, Jules and I got back from Michigan around 8:00 Sunday night. We had a GREAT time! It was so fun to see the Bush family and to see Andy and Val get married. We had a great time at the reception and Mary had a blast struttin' her stuff out on the dance floor. She has some signature moves that she liked to show off!

Jules was a little clingy all weekend - I think it was overload meeting all those new people. She would scream and burst out crying when some of the family members came near her. Plus I think it was difficult to be away from daddy. It sure was for mommy too. I will probably not take another trip with the girls without him. SO MUCH work! I had dreams of a leisurely weekend (I even brought all of my magazines that I have been dying to get caught up on), taking a bubble bath and maybe even catching a nap. I thought there would be plenty of hands to help out with Jules. Well there were, but she wasn't having any of it. I couldn't even walk away without her crying out. Oh well. It was still a great weekend and she looked so stinkin cute at the wedding that I wasn't upset at all.

My dad's family is the absolute best. We can get together every couple of years and pick up right where we left off. It is kind of crazy to see the circle of life. We used to be the young ones everyone ohhed and awwed over and then it was my little sister Courtney's generation, now they are the ones getting married and we are the ones having babies! My cousins are so much fun and we are ALL hilarious when we get together - the family knows what I mean!!! Plus it is great to see my dad cut loose a little bit when he is around his brothers! Plus he had a great time hanging out with his "girls".

Val and Andy are so great and she is absolutely adorable and amazing! We are so glad she is part of the family!!!!

Maybe I should explain....

I was reading through my old posts and realized that in my "Michigan, Sweet Michigan" post I didn't explain why I titled it that.

Basically - I should be living in "Michigan, Sweet Michigan" right now. But God had other strange (to some) and wonderful plans. The Bush side of my family is pretty close. I have cousins my age and older that I am close to and cousins that are Courtney and Morgan's age that I am close to. Even though we may see each other every couple of years, we can pick right up where we left off and we always have a blast!! 5 years ago while at my cousin Lea's graduation (in northern Iowa) I was talking with my cousins from Michigan (where I had just visited over spring break that year and fell in love with) and they were trying to convince me to move there. When I got back home I really thought about it and decided "why not" - I was single, living here, with a job that was o.k., but that I could do anywhere and I had no commitments here whatsoever, so I decided to go for it. I was SO pumped. It was all I could think about and all I wanted. So I started a part-time job at the Olive Garden (actually I went back there - I had worked there in college) as a server and the plan was to save all of my tip money for moving expenses, first and last month's rent and for new furniture. My goal was to save $5000 and to move to Michigan in May of 2003.

I am not sure how many people know how Drew and I met - but HE is the reason I am not living in Michigan. But, let me back up a bit....while I was working at The Olive Garden I met this girl Sarah. We became good friends. She would talk about her daughter a lot and was interested in my church etc. In August of that year she asked me to pray for her daughter's dad because he had Bells Palsy and the entire left side of his face was paralyzed. So I had my Sunday School Class start to pray for him. I would get updates from time to time about him and he seemed to be getting better.

Well in September I got into 2 car accidents within one week. I am not kidding, one with my car and one with the rental car one week later exactly! It was awful. And it happened 2 weeks before I was suppose to go to Michigan to check out apartments, the job market etc. When I talked to my insurance agent - he told me it would be next to impossible to get insurance in Michigan and if I did - my payments would be a small fortune. I was devastated. There was no way I was going to be able to move now.

In November, Sarah and I were talking about Christian men and I said that I just wanted to meet a nice one! I mean why not, since I was obviously meant to stay here. She said that she had been thinking about it for a while and thought that I might really hit it off with her daughter's dad (HER EX-BOYFRIEND). I at first said no, I thought it was a little weird, but she talked to him about it and he said that he might be interested in meeting me. So he called about 2 weeks later, and we talked for 5 days before meeting, went on our first date and never looked back. We were engaged 9 months later and married 9 months after that. It will be 3 years in June! Therefore, we ultimately tell Mary that she is the one that brought us together, because if it wouldn't have been for her, Sarah and Drew would not still be in contact and Sarah would have never been able to set us up! She loves that she brought us together. :o) Plus Sarah thinks it is pretty cool that she "hand-picked" her daughters step-mom. Also, Drew thinks it is pretty neat that I was praying for him (his bells palsy) before I even met him!

SO.......the whole point of this is that while I will always have Michigan in my heart - it is nothing compared to the love and adoration I have for my husband, that I would have never agreed to go out with if I knew I was planning to move from Iowa the next year. Always amazing how God has other plans - while I thought the reason I was working at the O.G. was to save $$ for my move, it was really to meet the man of my dreams. I liked God's plan better!

Please pray....

My aunt who I am very close with emailed me today and her ex-husband (father of her 2 boys) had a stroke on Saturday. The unfortunate thing is that he lives alone and was not found until yesterday. So 5 days of being on his living room floor with no food or water and his brain not functioning properly. He is paralyzed on his left side and has some brain damage. They don't know if he will recover and if he does his mobility will be limited.

It is really hard on my cousins right now. Robbie is 19 and Ted is 17. Robbie is his "next of kin" if something happens and that is a lot to put on a 19 year old. They are all a little overwhelmed and sad right now. He needs a healing and we know that God can provide that. Please pray for my uncle Jeff as I still think of him as that! He is only 47 and he needs a miracle!

......please pray for my sweet baby Julianna. She has a double ear infection and has to be on breathing treatments for at least a month (she is for sure her mama's daughter). Thankfully we were able to get her into the Dr. before our trip. So pray that she is healed before we leave next week!

Michigan, sweet Michigan!

Only one more week and we will be heading on a road trip to Holland, Michigan!!!!! My cousin Andy will be getting married on the 17th and let me tell you and I SO excited about this trip. I cannot explain how much fun the Bush side of the family has when we get together! Unfortunately Drew can't go, he has to work the weekend of the wedding, so we are all a little disappointed about that. But it has ended up being a girls weekend. I am staying in a room with my sisters, jules, mary and maybe a couple of cousins. So I will still have a blast, though it will be hard to be away from my man!

I am also excited because I just love road trips. The open road, music blasting, junk food, new scenery etc. I am taking my road trip with Jules, my sister Courtney and her fiance Jeremy. Lord knows I couldn't do 7 1/2 hours on the road alone with Jules. So thanks guys for coming wiht me and helping me out! Mary will be coming the next day with my dad and step-mom. Pretty sure she is excited about the spoiling that will take place with just her and them! I promise to take lots of pictures and post them here and on my myspace page after we get back!

Now, if I could only figure out how to pack a stroller, baby papasan, pillows, luggage for me and a baby for 4 days and luggage for Co and Jer into a Chevy Malibu, I would be all set!!!! I guess my 10 pairs of black shoes (you just never know which ones you will want to wear) will have to be dwindled down to two!!!!

Snow Day......I wish!!

Well just about most of the city didn't have to work today and all of the schools are closed. You would think I would be enjoying a day at home with my baby. Nope, here I am stuck at work. Thankfully Julianna and I made it in just fine today (thank you Jesus), and she is at my parents house. I didn't want to make the drive all the way to Pleasant Hill and Sue (step-mom) didn't have to work today (one of the lucky ones), so she offered to watch the babe. They only live 4 blocks from my office, so it worked out. Hopefully it will still be o.k. to get home tonight.

We are really lucky. We live in Urbandale in a neighborhood that doesn't get hit too bad. Our streets are plowed in a timely manner and we have a wonderful neighbor who snowblows our sidewalks everytime it snows. Here is a picture of what a co-workers friend was dealing with this morning. This what he saw when he opened his garage door to leave for work this morning.....
