Sunday night Jules, Mary and I baked and decorated Christmascookies. (Well I baked and the girls cut them out and decorated them) It was a lot of fun and a tradition I hope continues through the years!
Why Jules chose to wear her blue fairy outfit (wings and all) while decorating, I will never know. Maybe she wanted to match her lovely bruise she got from the edge of the bathroom sink. :(
Every year my besties and I get together for Christmas. It is a time where we share stories, laughs, gifts and maybe a few martini's and glasses of wine!
This year was amazing. Maybe it was because I was couped up in the house for 3 days last week, or maybe it was because I sometimes feel like all I do is work and be a wife and mother. Sometimes there is little (play)time left for me. Well I got that in on Friday night. I love these girls and I am so thankful Rochelle and Annette are in my life!
We went to dinner at Trostel's Dish in West Des Moines. Can I just say, it is hard for me to enjoy a meal out most of the time because I am so spoiled by Drew and his cooking, but Oh.My.Gosh. Trostel's is amazing! I love it every time we go and they did not disappoint on Friday night! Good food and amazing Key Lime martini's!
After our fabulous dinner, we headed out for a little late night shopping. Love stores that are open late around the holidays! Scored some new jeans that amazingly fit well considering the issues I have with my left leg - tumor gone, but still a lot of swelling. Love them so much, I may never buy another brand of jeans again! After that we headed home so I could rest my weary head. As much as I need my girls night out, my body needed rest - especially after those martini's!!
Girls, thank you for a wonderful evening. Can't wait for our next GNO!!!!!
Jules wanted in on the picture taking action. She was having a hard time letting me leave. But she greatly enjoyed her night @ home with daddy!
...Now there aren't too many things I hate in life. But this week something I hate with a passion came out in full force. SNOW!! And boy were we hit with it - almost 16 inches to be exact! There is no other word for it other than - hate.
I hate driving in it, I hate shoveling it (which I don't really do, since my husband takes care of that, but I hate that he has to do it), I hate that it keeps us stranded, I hate that along with snow comes extreme cold, I hate that we now live on a street that.takes.forever.to.get.plowed AND I hate the my husband had take the battery out of the truck he is restoring in order to jumpstart my car!!!!
But.....I did get 2 snow days cuddled up with Jules at home. But I would rather have had 2 vacation days cuddled up on a nice, warm & sunny beach somewhere!!
Yesterday we celebrated Drew's 33rd birthday. We had everyone over to our house for dinner last night. It was a great time and a full house! We are so blessed to have such great families and I love it when we can get everyone together!
Happy Birthday babe. I love you so much and I am so thankful for another year with you!
Here is his lovely cake. I tried to call and get a special one ordered for him and they wouldn't accept a phone order - seriously?? So this is what you get when your birthday is close to the holidays! He liked it and it was filled with chocolate mousse, so who wouldn't like it! :)
Mary was hoping to dig in before anyone else! Jules and Grandma H. Always laughing and having a good time together! The birthday boy - exhausted from a long day at work and then had to come home and cook for 30 people. But I made up for it by doing all of the celan-up once our guests left!
Jules was so proud of her gift - measuring spoons in the shape of hearts. Now she can use them to help daddy cook!
Now if you have been following our blog for the past couple of years, you know that I love Christmas and I LOVE to decorate for it. I had to get an early start this year since we have so much company coming in the next few weeks.
I finished our front room this weekend and when Drew saw it he said "it looks like a department store in here." Now, that is one of the best compliments he could give!! I can't wait for Christmas morning and to see all of the joy on everyone's faces!!
We had to hang our stockings like this this year. I am afraid they would have caught on fire if we put them on our fireplace!
On Friday night, Drew and I took Snow White - oops, I mean Julianna - to see Disney Princesses on Ice. It was a wonderful show and of course Jules loved every minute of it. She sat through the entire thing completely mesmerized. At one point I tried to say something to her and she held her finger up and said "not now mommy, I am watching the show!"
We were thrilled to find that when we got there, we had 5th row seats! It was amazing and we got to see so much detail. It was a great night and something we hope we will be able to do with her every year!!
Most of these pics of course are for Grandma, but I hope you all will enjoy them too!
Could she be any sweeter?
Passing a little girl dressed as "Sleeping Beauty" in the hallway. Too cute!
O.k. we admit it....Drew and I were excited too!
And yes, we bought the $12.00 Sno-Cone! It was worth it. :)
The set was so beautiful.
Tinkerbell was the special guest and Jules just loved her! I couldn't fit all of the pictures in one post, so enjoy the next few of Disney Princesses on Ice!!!
