Ahhh....Fresh Air!

Yesterday was such a perfect day! Drew had the day off (the first one on a weekend in about 6 weeks), so we were able to spend some quality time together. We opened up the house, let the fresh air in and cleaned from top to bottom. Then we worked on the yard and played outside with the girls. It was so nice to just relax and be together as a family.

One of our Grad Assistants (Ross) here at Grand View came over yesterday afternoon to "interview" us for his Family Counseling class. He asked Drew and I some questions about our marriage and one of them was what are three strengths in our marriage. It was nice to reflect on that for a moment. We both said that our love and affection for each other is a really strong part, we are hugging and kissing all the time and we think it is healthy for the girls to see that too. They need to know that love and affection in a marriage is normal and perfectly acceptable. We also said that we have fun together and we are always laughing. This is so imporatant to us and our marriage. You can always find us laughing with each other and with the girls. Our third strength was our support and commitment to each other. We have been through SO much in the past 4 years (custody battles, child support issues, loss of jobs, jobs that made us miserable, a miscarriage, financial issues etc.) and we come out stronger and more in love than ever. I made the comment that "I love our life" and Ross wrote that down saying that most people don't make comments like that, but it's true. Even though we have our ups and downs and little arguments, we have a great life and I love it and I love my husband and he loves me. What could be better?

After our interview Ross wanted to see us interact with the girls and do something fun. So we all played outside. Jules rode her new trike while Ross and Mary played soccer. Did I mention that Ross plays for the
Des Moines Menace? Mary was in heaven learning from a pro! It was a fun afternoon and it was so nice to get outside and enjoy the weather. As Ross was leaving, Jules stood at the door and said "Bye Ross" and blew him kisses. It was so cute. She seemed to be pretty taken with him. :o)

After that we went for a drive around town and to get ice cream. It was such a great day and it was so nice to spend time with my wonderful hubby!
